- Delta Tecnic's climate plan for 2021-2030 set a target of 2.3% reduction in total emissions by 2023.
- Direct emissions, which include emissions and removals, were reduced from 28.85 tCO2 eq in 2021 to 0.00 tCO2 eq in 2023, achieving a 100% reduction.
Barcelona, 17th October 2024 — Delta Tecnic, a leading masterbatch manufacturer in the cable and PVC sector, significantly reduced its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in 2023. Compared to 2021 levels, total emissions decreased by 20.34%, far exceeding the target set for this year.
In 2021, the company's total emissions amounted to 19,463 tonnes of CO2 equivalent (tCO2 eq). In 2023, it managed to reduce this figure to 15,504 tCO2 eq. This achievement is the result of concerted efforts in the three scopes defined by the GHG Protocol:
· Scope 1: Direct emissions, which include emissions and removals, were reduced from 28.85 tCO2 eq in 2021 to 0.00 tCO2 eq in 2023, achieving a 100% reduction.
· Scope 2: Indirect emissions from imported energy were reduced from 1,210 tCO2 eq in 2021 to 377 tCO2 eq in 2023, a decrease of 68.84%.
· Scope 3: Indirect emissions from used products, transport and waste management were reduced from 18,224 tCO2 eq in 2021 to 15,127 tCO2 eq in 2023, achieving a reduction of 16.99%.
Delta Tecnic's climate roadmap for the period 2021-2030 set a target of a 2.3% reduction in total emissions by 2023 compared to 2021. This target has been largely exceeded, achieving a total reduction of 20.34%. This result is particularly significant in the reductions achieved in Scope 1 and 2, while Scope 3 emissions have also decreased, offsetting part of the reductions achieved.
In this regard, the company is committed to reducing and offsetting Scope 3 emissions. In 2021, it requested data on its climate action and carbon neutrality targets from its suppliers in order to align efforts towards a sustainable future.
Delta Tecnic's goal is for all Scope 3 emissions to be fully reduced or offset by 2050. Along the way, by 2024/2025, the company expects to have reduced these emissions by 32%, and by 2030, by 42%.
‘These results reflect Delta Tecnic's commitment to sustainability and the fight against climate change. We will continue to work closely with our suppliers and all stakeholders to achieve carbon neutrality and constantly improve our environmental practices,’ says Eva Gotor, Head of Communications at Delta Tecnic.
